PRESTATIONS Ventoux - Luberon
VENDREDI
Bienvenue en Provence !
Where does the name of our Bastide come from?
A bit of history to understand!
We are located in a green area covered by orchards and lavender, whose soil is animated by many small Sorgues, called the Sorguettes (small streams of water). The surrounding villages have kept the atmosphere of ancient times, and have kept the many fountains that once were highly active social places.
And also a bit of geography!
Our name is also inspired by the nearby village of Fontaine de Vaucluse and its natural 300m deep fountain, making it a unique place in the world.
Finally a bit of economy!
Our bastide has been built in the late XVIIIth century during the rise of silk production in Provence. The "magnaneries", surrounded by mulberry trees, allowed for the breeding of silkworms. The "magnarelles" were the mistresses in charge of the place back then.
